Simon Black showed just how valuable he is to the Brisbane Lions last Saturday night, with a team-high 28 disposals, five clearances and three goal assists against Greater Western Sydney at the Gabba.

But the 34-year-old pulled up sore from his first senior game in seven weeks, and is now concerned that his groin injury might seriously affect his playing future.

"I'm not sure about next week, I'm not sure about next year," Black told The Courier Mail on Monday.

"I'll just have to wait and see what happens with the groin but it doesn't feel too good at the moment."

Black was hopeful that his body would hold up for another tilt in 2014, particularly after spending an extended period on the sidelines this season.

But if the verdict from Monday’s tests is not positive, the triple Club Champion might be forced to reassess his options.

One thing’s for certain, every Lions fan will be hoping that we haven’t seen the last of Simon Black.
