As the Brisbane Lions gear up for the second half of the 2015 season, lions.com.au has asked the journalists covering the team to analyse the year so far.
Today, Australian Associated Press (AAP) sports reporter Vince Rugari has his say in the "Mid-Season Verdict" series:
1. In one line, sum up the Brisbane Lions’ season to date:
Vince Rugari: It's been hard, injuries haven't helped, but it will all be worth it one day.
2. What’s been the biggest positive of 2015 so far?
VR: The fact that a group of kids have been exposed to the rigours of AFL well before anyone thought they would - and even better, none have disappointed.
3. What’s the area that needs the most improvement?
VR: The big body department. It's all well and good to have zip but unless you've got a proper beast or two at either end it won't come together.
4. Best player in 2015 to date?
VR: Dayne Beams has been a revelation.
5. Best young player in 2015 to date?
VR: Is there any room left on the Harris Andrews bandwagon? If so, I want in.
6. Most improved player in 2015 to date?
VR: I like the way Lewy Taylor has bounced back from an absolute grilling by Leppa to be one of the better players at the turn of the year.
7. In one line, sum up what a successful 2nd half of 2015 looks like for the Brisbane Lions:
VR: If by the end of 2015, we know what the team for R1 2016 is going to look like, that's a win.
8. What do you think of Brion the Lion?
VR: It's difficult to put into words.
