Stefan Martin will miss the next two games after the Brisbane Lions accepted a two-week suspension for striking during the loss to Adelaide at the Gabba on Saturday.
The Match Review Panel offered Martin the two-week penalty with an early plea after finding he struck Adelaide’s Luke Brown during the second quarter.

Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football, Dean Warren, said the Club was disappointed with the penalty, but the chance of Martin missing another game with a failed tribunal challenge was too much of a risk.
“The incident was behind play, and while Stefan’s intention was not to strike Brown high, high contract was made to the head/neck area – those points could not be argued,” said Warren.
“The only aspect that could be argued was the impact, and the medical report from Adelaide left us no room to move. It’s disappointing.”
The MRP found: “In summary, (Martin) can accept a two-match sanction with an early plea.
“Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Adelaide Crows Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as intentional conduct with medium impact to the head/neck.
“The offence was classified as a three-match sanction. The player has no applicable bad record. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a two-match sanction.”
Martin will miss games against Fremantle in Perth and the Sydney Swans at the Gabba, with Matthew Leuenberger to shoulder the load in the ruck.
