Stefan Martin is recovering well and is expected to line-up for the Lions against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.
The 29-year-old was flattened in the final minutes of the first half of Brisbane’s Round 4 win over Gold Coast on Saturday and stretchered from the field.
He passed his first concussion test on Monday and trained with the rehab group today but will undergo further testing during the week to assess his availability to play against the Bulldogs.
“He’ll undergo a series of tests, some are performed by doctors, others are computer-based tests to see how his brain function is going and whether it’s been affected. That’s an ongoing process during the week,” said Lions Head of Physiotherapy Shane Lemcke.
“His initial prognosis looks like it’s settling down quite well but we’ll evaluate it throughout the week.”
Lions Health Centre: Injury List
The Lions will also welcome back Tom Rockliff from a calf injury – provided the captain gets through the Club’s final training session on Thursday.
Darcy Gardiner (elbow) and Lewis Taylor (eye) are both expected to be available to take on the Bulldogs.
In better injury news, Rhys Mathieson will return through the NEAFL this weekend. The 19-year-old suffered a fractured cheekbone in the Lions’ final pre-season match against GWS in March.
Meanwhile Marco Paparone (hamstring) will increase his training loads as he returns to the main group. The 21-year-old should be available for selection from Round 6.
