Ryan Lester is on track to return from injury against the West Coast Eagles on Saturday.

The 23-year-old has missed the last fortnight with a quad strain.

Lester completed speed work and agility prior to training today. To be available on the weekend he will need to train fully on Thursday.

In other injury news, Lions Medical Staff are still managing a foot injury to defender Jackson Paine.

Paine, who was elevated to the senior list in May, developed foot soreness following the Round 11 loss to Carlton. He missed last weekend’s match against Fremantle.

“Jackson’s been a bit unlucky,” said Lions Head of Physiotherapy Shane Lemcke.

“He’s picked up a case of gout which has made his ankle pretty sore and swollen.

“Unfortunately that meant he missed last weekend. We’ll monitor him through the week but he’s in doubt for this week as well.”

Lions Health Centre: Injury List

Archie Smith (concussion) and Josh Green (groin) are likely to return from injury in the Lions’ Reserves.

Smith was concussed following a heavy knock in the Reserves a fortnight ago – he will be monitored by Lions Medical Staff during the week to assess his availability.

Green last played for the Reserves in the NEAFL against the Gold Coast SUNS in Round 9.

“They’ll obviously have to get through training today and on Thursday to put their hand up for selection,” Lemcke said.
