The Brisbane Lions strategy for the Trade and Draft Period is centred on building the Club's next Premiership team.
Maximising picks in the first and early second round of the Draft, and trading for players in the age bracket to hit their prime in coming years were the Club's priorities, according to Lions General Manager of Football David Noble.
"We want to bring talent in and then enhance that talent as we move forward," said Noble as the Trade Period moved through its second day.
Noble: It's about talent and strategy
Work continued behind the scenes on a range of trade options including players and picks.
Noble said: "It's about building a side that will win our next Premiership. We have talent at the Club but there are areas of need that we need to address.
"That will take time but we have made a new start and we believe we can make some good ground across this Trade and Draft Period.
"And that's an important point for our fans to note - our strategy is very much based on the result of Trade and Draft Periods combined.

"As a Club, we want to become relevant again and part of that is being better organised, more strategic, knowing where we want to go and being very focused on that goal."
Noble said under new Senior Coach Chris Fagan the Club was looking for players with top-end disposal and endurance - but equally as important was the individual's character to help develop a strong culture.
Specific positions that required the most urgent attention revolved around versatile midfielders and defenders.
"We want selfless players who are 100% committed to where we are headed and the journey we are going to take," said Noble.
"It will get tough at times but we know the new start we have made as a Club will take us in the right direction."
