Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football David Noble said he is confident Pearce Hanley’s mooted trade to the Gold Coast SUNS will work in the Club’s favour, with a deal likely to be done tomorrow.
“It’s progressed a little bit today, probably in the last hour or so, we’re hopeful that something might come to hand before the end of business today, but certainly we think by tomorrow,” Noble said.
“The main aspect of that was to make sure that the Club’s in front on that deal going forward."
Noble said today was quiet in terms of trade news, as he and Peter Schwab sat back to see how things would unfold.
“(It was) pretty quiet today, speaking to Peter (Schwab) this morning, we probably wanted to see things unfold a little bit ourselves.
“We’re keen to get another first Round pick, whether that’s this year or next year. We’ll wait and see on a couple of things that we’ve got to unfold for the rest of the week.
Senior Coach Chris Fagan spent his first official day at the Hyundai Centre in and out of meetings with current Brisbane Lions players.
“Chris met with players today,” he said.
“Chris just wanted to get a baseline on a few guys, and where they’re at.
“He had a number of questions that he wanted them to answer, to come in and start some information flow.”
