Dayne Beams is expected to return to the playing field in next week's JLT Community Series match against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium. 

Beams played just six quarters of football in Season 2016 before requiring knee surgery for troublesome tendinitis.

“Dayne’s come off a frustrating injury, he’s going well… he’s got good running loads up,” Head of Medical Peter Blanch said on Lions.com.au.

“He’ll be looking to get in sometime during the second JLT match."

The Lions could also gain the services of other key players, with Blanch saying that a number of players will be available for the Lions’ next game.

“We’ve got a number of players who are going to be available for the second game of the JLT,” said Blanch.

“Not all of them will play in the JLT, some will play in the NEAFL.

“We’ll have Beams, Bell, Christensen, McStay, William and big Eric all coming back to be available to play.”

Blanch also said that the Brisbane Lions come out of week one of the JLT Community Series unscathed.

“We did pretty well out of the game on the weekend,” he said.

“We got out of it without any injuries that are going to affect anybody playing.”

Young midfielder Hugh McCluggage received stitches during the match on Sunday, but was fine to play out the rest of the game.

“He’s fine, he played out the rest of the game, he’s got no problems. He’ll be back and going well for us,” Blanch said.
