The final round of the JLT Community Series came to a close for the Brisbane Lions last Saturday after coming up against Adelaide Crows at Hickinbotham Oval.
After each week of the JLT Community Series, the AFL have named players who caught their eye. This week AFL.com.au have listed Brisbane Lions utility, Nick Robertson, who they ‘liked the look of’ in the final round. Robertson played a promising game, successfully minimising the opportunities that Adelaide forward, Tom Lynch, had upon goal.

“Keeping Adelaide forward Tom Lynch quiet was a task few sides could manage last year. Robertson did a wonderful job in staying in Lynch's pocket the entire game and barely giving him any room to breathe. Lynch had minimal impact on the game, not kicking a goal and having only 15 possessions, while had Robertson had 17 touches and five rebound 50s. Robertson, 21, played just six games last year for the Lions, but showed he could be someone coach Chris Fagan turns to more often in 2017.“ (Lee Gaskin, AFL.com.au)
Another standout on the weekend was ruckman Stefan Martin, who appeared to have returned to career best form.
Martin was brilliant around the ground, racking up plenty of disposals and dominating his ruck duels with the Crows’ Sam Jacobs.
He capped his game off with a supergoal and also recorded 41 hit-outs and 19 disposals in a personal duel with Jacobs, who had 34 hitouts.

The Lions are yet to decide whether he plays as a solo ruck or they have a tandem with Archie Smith
Meanwhile, GWS recruit Jake Barrett secured a goal in the fourth quarter.
The midfielder’s solid work-rate and endurance throughout the game enabled the rookie to collect 15 touches.
