Darcy Gardiner was recruited at Pick 22 in the 2013 AFL Draft and has the reputation for being a competitive beast. Despite not playing as regularly at AFL level in 2023, Gardiner was immense when called upon, particularly against Carlton in the Preliminary Final. A 158-game veteran, the 28-year-old is often used as Chris Fagan’s ‘Mr Fix-it’ in the backline with his ability to play on both tall and small forwards, each to great effect. Training as a forward during the preseason, Garinder will be an interesting watch for Lions fans this season.
