Luka Yoshida-Martin will make her AFLW debut against St Kilda this weekend, with Brisbane Lions AFLW Head Coach Craig Starcevich making two changes ahead of his side’s trip to Victoria.

Another former soccer player, Yoshida-Martin will step into the forward line in place of young talent Zimmorlei Farquharson (illness).

The 20-year-old was drafted to the Lions at Pick 53 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft.

Although the cross-code talent only picked up a football a few years ago, Yoshida-Martin possesses plenty of X-Factor and a high football IQ, making her an exciting prospect for the Lions forward line come Saturday.

The absence of key defender Shannon Campbell (AFL Concussion Protocol) has seen Foundation Lion Sharni Webb recalled into Starcevich’s best 21.

Webb only recently made her AFLW return after missing the 2021 season to give birth to her daughter, Billie.

Saturday’s meeting with St Kilda will be the first time the two sides have met, and coincides with the return of the traditional Fitzroy guernsey as the Lions’ away strip.

The Lions last wore the traditional Fitzroy kit in the shortened 2020 season.

The Brisbane Lions will play St Kilda at Trevor Barker Oval, Sandringham on Sunday at 1:10PM local time. You can catch all the action live on Seven and Kayo.
