Ahead of AFLW Head Coach Craig Starcevich's milestone 50th AFLW Game tomorrow, we caught up with some of our AFLW stars to hear about the most important lessons they've learnt from their Coach over the years.
"The greatest thing I've learnt from Craig on field is not just taking pride in the end result, but in taking pride in the efforts along the way. It's an arm wrestle so bring the effort and intensity, and even if it takes four quarters, it will eventually pay off.
"Off field, it's that you can never have enough sports or life quotes. He does love to throw out a good quote."
"For me, it's how to lead a team. To be both brutal but caring at the same time."
"There's one saying that comes to mind - 'Don't count your games, make your game count.' That's a good one from Craig."
"Honestly, I think the biggest thing I've learnt from Craig is that no one is bigger than the team. Yeah, team first mentality always.
"It's super important not just on the field, but off the field too, in the way you conduct yourself whether it's in the changerooms, in work life, or just everyday life."
"The greatest thing I've learnt from Craig is how to be a duck on water. The importance of remaining clam and composed in high pressure situations and the ability to impose that on others.
"I've also learnt a lot of Foo Fighters lyrics and songs."
"The greatest thing I've learnt from Craig off the field is what is considered good music taste and what vinyl records are must haves in my collection.
"The biggest thing I've learnt from Craig is around culture and mindset, and how he has helped build that through what he teaches in sharing the load: no one person is greater than the team and you need everyone contributing and playing their role. It's always team first with Craig."
"Hmmm...I think the most important thing I've learnt from Craig is that the Foo Fighters are the number one band of all time."
