Kai Lohmann’s idea of the perfect Easter had always been a visit from a mystical bunny loaded up with chocolate eggs.

Then Chris Fagan called him into his office for a quick chat.

Lohmann is fresh out of school, so it was no surprise he equated the call-up to a summons to the principal’s office

Instead, the coach revealed he had earned his AFL debut, and would be making it against Collingwood in an Easter Thursday blockbuster at the Gabba, the Lions’ biggest home and away fixture of the year.

“I got him in and told him he was in a bit of trouble,’’ Fagan said.

“So, he was actually pretty nervous when he walked in, before I said nah mate you’re playing this weekend.

“I played with his emotions a little bit, I probably shouldn’t have done that.’’

The rush the 18-year-old received from that meeting was greater than any Easter sugar hit, the coach reckons he’s never seen a young player so emotional on learning they would be fulfilling every footballer’s childhood dream.

The Club’s second pick (No.20) in last year’s NAB AFL Draft, has crashed his way into Fagan’s said by kicking nine goals in his past three VFL games.

“It’s his first year here but he’s kicked a lot of goals over the past three weeks,’’ Fagan said.

“His tackle pressure is fantastic, and he’s got a few different attributes that we think in time will give the opposition difficulty.

“Whether he can do that (on Thursday), I’m not sure.

“It is always hard in your first game, but we’re really pleased to have him out on the field.’’

The Lions have also recalled a fan favourite to join the youngster who is certain to be in the near future.

Oscar McInerney returns after serving a one match suspension to partner Darcy Fort in the ruck.  

“He’s a pretty important player for our side,’’ Fagan said.

“Darcy Fort did a pretty good job for us last week but it would have been good to have our two ruckmen playing in that game.’’  

Nakia Cockatoo and Tom Fullarton have been omitted.
