Despite a disappointing Semi Final loss to Parkdale last week, Fitzroy FC’s 2012 VAFA Premier C Finals campaign continues this Saturday (15 September) with the senior team taking on Mazenod in a Preliminary Final at Trevor Barker Oval in Sandringham.

So far this season, Fitzroy FC and Mazenod have met each other twice - with each team securing one win. The last time they met was back in Round 11 when Fitzroy were handed 52-point defeat in what was a very windy and muddy day.

Saturday’s winner will earn the right to play Parkdale Vultures in the VAFA Premier C Grand Final, as well as a promotion to the Premier B division for season 2013.

Should Fitzroy win, it will be the club’s highest level of VAFA football it has competed in incorporating the history of its VAFA merger partner the University/Fitzroy Reds Football Club.

The Lions encourage all Melbourne-based (and those who may be down from Queensland or any part of Australia) members and supporters to get back to their roots and cheer on the Club’s amateur affiliate in Victoria.

Fans should keep an eye out for former Sydney Swans premiership player Luke Ablett, Josh Vansittart - who was Runner-Up in the VAFA Premier C Best and Fairest award - and Captain Rory Angiolella.

The entire squad has been training hard this week and want nothing more than a birth in the Grand Final, promotion to B-grade, and another shot at Parkdale.
