Lions Academy coach appointed
The Brisbane Lions are pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Borlace as the new Head Coach of the Hyundai Lions Academy.
The Lions Academy, which runs talent identification programs throughout the state to uncover and train the best young Queensland AFL talent, has been in operation for over two years now.
Borlace comes to the Lions from Norwood in the SANFL, where he was an Assistant Coach for the past two years, and played more than 170 senior games.
He also has a strong background in teaching, having taught secondary Physical Education for seven years.
General Manager, Football Operations Dean Warren said that Borlace’s background made him the perfect candidate for the role.
“It’s not only his playing background, but his teaching and coaching background that attracted us to Scott,” Warren said.
“With the Academy, building really good strong relationships with younger players, and understanding how younger players operate and being able to communicate, is really important.”
“We had an exhaustive process and there were a number of really good quality applicants, but Scott very deservedly won the role and he is going to be an excellent acquisition for our Club.”
Borlace will commence with the Academy this week.
