Taylor Smith believes the Brisbane Lions can take their game up another notch this season, taking lessons learnt from their 2022 Premiership campaign into the coming season.
“We’re ready to take our game up another level this season,” Smith said.
“After another year dismantled by COVID, I think we’ve all learnt to be pretty resilient.
“As a team, we’ve got so much more to give than we think and we’re ready to take up it another level.”
Smith, a key tall in the Lions’ forward line, shone brightly in her second season with the Lions.
Notching up 26 marks, 21 tackles and seven goals across the season, the Gold Coast local played a crucial role up forward for the Lions across her 11 games.
One of her strongest performances came in Round 8 against West Coast where Smith finished with 10 disposals, five marks, two tackles and a goal.
But the clever forward has already set her sights on further improving her craft in Season 7 alongside her forward line teammates.
“I’m super excited to get going with the forward girls again,” Smith said.
“Last season was awesome; we had some great passages of play as a group so we’ll be bringing more of that in and some more athleticism into the forward line this season.
“My goals for the season ahead are just (to be) fitter, faster, stronger and I think everything else will come with that.
“I’ve been working on my craft, working on marking, working on goal kicking. I started the season a little slow with accuracy because of a slow start that I had, but I want to nail that now and carry it into the season.”
