The Brisbane Lions will be celebrating at Saturday Night’s QClash regardless of win, lose or draw against the Gold Coast Suns.
Continuing a strong partnership with Multicultural Australia and the Queensland State Government, the Lions will lead a range of activities at The Gabba to promote diversity and inclusion.
As part of the Multicultural Queensland Month (MQM) celebrations, the Club is hosting a Citizenship Ceremony at The Gabba.
Brisbane Lions Community Manager, James Dowling, said Saturday night’s big clash with rivals the Suns was a perfect stage for this occasion.
“The opportunity to welcome our newest Australians with ‘Australia’s game’ at our home is a fantastic way to welcome our newest community members,” he said.
“We continue to try and be reflective of the broader community. Sport provides connection that transcends language and culture, so it provides a great opportunity to connect more broadly and continue to grow our code and club.
“While doing the ceremonies we have also partnered with the State Government and help to celebrate MQM.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the diversity within our communities, invite program participants from diverse communities that may not otherwise get the opportunity to attend our games and show our fans and members what it means to our club.”
The Lions will kick start Saturday’s night’s match with a range of pre-game performances as well as a Guard of Honour and banner message welcoming our newest Australians.
