The Brisbane Lions VFL side have done what no other side has been able to do this year, defeating the Casey Demons and securing a home final in the process.
Brisbane jumped out of the blocks early thanks to a handy goal to Mitch Cox before a shootout ensued, with both teams going goal-for-goal until half time.
With score levels at the main break, the Lions found another gear in the second half, keeping the Demons to just three goals for the remainder of the game in a brilliant defensive display.
Nakia Cockatoo and Darcy Wilmot provided plenty of rebound from half-back, while Wylie Buzza, Connor McFadyen and Ryan Lester proved the difference in the air, combining for 22 marks and nullifying much of the Casey attack.
Up forward, Dev Robertson couldn’t miss in a three-goal display, including an impressive boundary bending goal under immense pressure.
The 21-year-old was again in the best-on-ground votes, collecting 30 disposals, six tackles and five clearances alongside his hattrick of majors.
However, it was Mitch Robinson who stole the show. Having been activated as medi-sub less than 24 hours prior, the 33-year-old inspired his team to victory.
Robinson finished with 42 disposals, 11 marks, 11 inside 50s, 10 clearances and six tackles in a dominant display.
Darcy Fort continued his impressive form, racking up 32 hitouts, 10 clearances and a goal, while Henry Smith is developing into a dangerous threat up forward and will be one to watch in the finals.
