A trio of Brisbane Lions have been recognized for standout seasons with selection in the All-Australian 44-man squad.

Lachie Neale, Hugh McCluggage and Charlie Cameron are now all in contention to be named in the highly regarded team to be announced on Wednesday.

Neale has been touted from the opening round of the season as a strong chance to win his second Brownlow Medal, with the 29-year-old again proving to be on the of the AFL’s elite midfielders.

Despite often being heavily tagged by the opposition, Neale still averaged 30.1 disposals and seven clearances per game as one of the Lions most consistent performers.

Lachie and a couple of his teammate reflect on the big milestone.

Hugh McCluggage experienced one of the best seasons of his career, reminding many why he was taken at pick three in the 2016 national draft.

The 24-year-old has made the wing his own in 2022, with two notable outings this season including a career-best 33 disposals against St Kilda and a four-goal haul against the Giants.

Benefiting from the work of these two midfielders was exciting forward Charlie Cameron who booted 47 goals for the Lions.

Hugh McCluggage boots 4 goals to help lead the Lions past the Eagles.

Cameron averaged 2.1 goals per game with his best performance coming in Round16 against the Western Bulldogs where he kicked four goals.

If named in the team, it will be Neale’s third All-Australian blazer, Cameron’s second selection and McCluggage’s maiden honour.

The final side will be named at the AFL Awards on Wednesday night.
