With the Lions coming off the back of an emphatic win against Essendon, and North Melbourne vying for a position in the top four, there’s plenty going on in Saturday’s Round 7 match-up.
We take you through the three things you need to know ahead of tomorrow’s game.
#1 Top Four Pressure
With just four rounds left of the NAB AFLW Home and Away Season, every game counts regardless of where you sit on the ladder.
After a disappointing loss to Richmond two weeks ago, the Lions bounced back to pull together a classy team performance against Essendon to secure their position on top of the ladder.
They’ll be wanting to do everything in their power to stay at the top of the competition, as we head towards the pointy end of the season.
While North Melbourne will come into Saturday’s match with plenty to play for.
Sitting one win outside out of the top four on the ladder and coming off the back of its biggest AFLW win in the Club’s history, North will no doubt have their sights on pulling together a performance that will launch them inside the four and put them in pole position towards the end of the season.
#2 Battle of the Rucks
Brisbane Lions’ ruck Tahlia Hickie will have her work cut out for her come Saturday’s Round 7 clash.
Coming off the back of a complete performance against Essendon that saw Hickie make 31 hitouts, six tackles, seven score involvements and kick a goal of her own to ensure the Lions took home the win on Sunday, the young ruck will be aiming to continue her good run of form when Brisbane faces North on Saturday.
However, it won’t be any easy feat with in-form North Melbourne ruck duo Kim Rennie and Emma King lining up opposite her.
The pair are well known for their clever tap work in the centre and safe hands up forward, providing strong targets for North Melbourne across the ground.
#3 Welcome to Arden Street
Despite having met North Melbourne twice in the past three seasons, the Lions have never played the Roos on their home turf at Arden Street.
The Lions have shown they are more than adaptable to different grounds, having played at 12 different venues across the past two seasons, with four wins at four different grounds alone in Season 7.
With North carrying a home ground advantage into the game, the Lions will need to showcase their ability to adjust to a new venue if they want to take home the win on Saturday.
Don’t miss out on the chance to make the trip to Arden St and get behind the Lions this Saturday, with tickets still available HERE.
