Lions Number One Ticketholder retires
The Brisbane Lions' Number One Ticketholder Mr John Pearce has announced his retirement after seven years in the role with the Club.
The esteemed co-founder of Australia's leading receivables manager Collection House Limited stated it was simply time to step aside so that a committed and talented Club member with new ideas and a fresh approach could take the privileged appointment.
Mr Pearce became the Lions' Number One Ticketholder during the Premiership heydays of 2002 as part of the inaugural Lethal Lions group - an elite inner sanctum of highly successful business captains with a common desire to financially support and follow their favourite sporting team.
Lions Chairman Mr Tony Kelly accepted his resignation with regret.
"JP has contributed an enormous amount to the Club with his generous financial support, great business acumen and natural passion for the team," Mr Kelly said.
"He attended almost every Chairman's Circle match-day function with his lovely wife Sandra and some pretty high-powered guests such as past and present AFL commissioners, business leaders and politicians over the last decade - not just during his seven years as our Number One Ticketholder."
"JP was also extremely well-liked by the players - and especially the leadership group - who often sought him out at Club functions to exchange forecasts for the season ahead and discuss footy in general. He was a real Club man through and through."
Mr Pearce has also retired as Chairman of The Brisbane Lions Foundation - an independent, non-profit, national organisation established to provide a solid financial base for the Brisbane Lions to fund its strategic long-term growth.
He will continue attending Lions functions and matches as a regular Club Member.
