Brisbane spearhead Jesse Wardlaw has wrapped up the leading goalkicker award for season seven of AFLW.

Wardlaw, 22, kicked two goals against Collingwood on Friday night to take her season tally to 19 and finish three ahead of Melbourne's Kate Hore with 16.

The Lion played nine of 10 games this year, taking her career tally to 46 after being selected with pick No.61 in the 2018 NAB AFLW Draft.

A netballer who came to football in her mid-teens, Wardlaw has long been part of Brisbane's make-up, and was a premiership player in 2021.

She has firmly established herself as one of the premier key forwards in the competition this year, equally strong overhead as she is at ground level.

Wardlaw has had her most consistent season to date, kicking at least one goal in every match.

It's a big step up from last season, where she kicked seven goals from her 10 home and away matches, with Lions Forwards Coach, Phil Lovett crediting her work in the off-season.

"Jesse's been extremely consistent," he said.

"She's been really flexible dependent on her direct opponent and has been able to adapt to the different game styles we've seen throughout the season.

"She really worked on her strength and power in the off-season and from a craft point of view, been great in working on body positioning in a contest and her marking.

"Jesse's developed an understanding of her teammates and their different kicking styles and deliveries inside 50."
