LAST TIME THEY MET
The Brisbane Lions pulled off one of the most remarkable comebacks in VFL/AFL History when they met Geelong in Round 13, 2013.

In his 200th career game, Ashley McGrath stole victory with a goal after the siren, to give the Lions a five point victory.

The Lions trailed by 52 points late in the third term, and kicked 10 of the last 11 goals to win 15.13 (103) to 14.14 (98) in the equal eighth-biggest comeback in VFL/AFL history.

Having scored just five goals until half time there seemed little hope of a Lions victory. But a 38-point deficit at three quarter didn’t damper the belief of the Lions.

Brent Moloney and Daniel Rich led a final quarter rampage in which the Lions kicked eight goals to one to send a raucous Gabba crowd of 24,164 into raptures.

Rich levelled the scores inside the final two minutes with a goal from 50m, only for Tom Hawkins to regain the lead for the Cats with a behind and all but seal a Cat’s victory.

But the Footy Gods were smiling on the Lions as they swept the ball all the way from full-back into the hands of McGrath who lifted the Lions to an unforgettable win.
