Brisbane Lions players, Matthew Leuenberger, Pearce Hanley and Ryan Harwood were on hand today to present the students and staff at St. John Vianney’s Primary School with a cheque for $3,000.
The 377 student primary school, was the winner of the ‘Bupa Little Lions Brisbane’s Healthiest School Competition.’
The program, launched by the Brisbane Lions and their Official Health Partner, Bupa, in May this year, aimed to help teach students how to eat healthy and keep active.
110 schools were invited to participate in the program with the top three schools winning cash prizes of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 as well as an AFL clinic with Brisbane Lions players.
Participating schools were provided with student exercise diaries, work books and a class exercise poster.
Schools and students were encouraged to complete these diaries and work booklets for a chance to be named the Bupa Little Lion’s Healthiest School.
“Our congratulations go out to St John Vianney’s for their superb efforts in educating students on the importance of an active healthy lifestyle,” said Chris Smedley, Bupa’s State Manager for Queensland.
“It is great to see the Lions’ boys out here today, rewarding the students for their commitment to the Bupa Little Lions program.”

3rd Prize: Algester Primary School
Minor prize winning schools also received a $100 Hart Sport Voucher!
