The Brisbane Lions have had a further seven players recommit ahead of the 2023 AFLW season.
Continuing the show of strength in numbers of players committing to the Club this month, premiership Lions Sophie Conway, Courtney Hodder and Belle Dawes headline the group locked in for Season Eight.
These players follow on from the 19 players who recommitted to the Club last week, including Club captain Bre Koenen and reigning AFLW Best and Fairest, Ally Anderson.
Brisbane Lions AFLW Head Coach, Craig Starcevich, said it was a testament to the environment the Club has built.
“To be able to have a large number of players show that level of attachment to their team is heartening,” he said.
“A number of players in this group rejected offers to move, so to us that is a vote of confidence that we have built something worth investing in.
“Now it's time to get to work as we're really eager to see what this group can do in the season ahead.”
In the eight showing their commitment today include AFLW duo Ruby Svarc and Phoebe Monahan who are joined by 2021 draftee Luka Yoshida-Martin in also staying loyal to the Lions.
Premiership player and Club stalwart Kate Lutkins has also committed to the Club but will be placed on the inactive list for the 2023 season due to personal reasons.
“The Club will provide further details on this in due course,” said Starcevich.
“We ask everyone to please respect Kate’s privacy at this time.”
Along with new recruits, Jennifer Dunne and Ellie Hampson, the Lions list is almost complete with 28 spots confirmed.
