Colourful Lion Mitch Robinson says he's getting noticed a little more around Brisbane these days.

With his team set to break a 10-year finals drought following Saturday's victory over Hawthorn in Launceston, Robinson spoke to a packed media contingent at sunny South Bank on Monday. 

He said there was more "buzz" around the city, something usually saved for rugby league's Brisbane Broncos.

"You get noticed a little bit more," Robinson said.

"I've probably had two more people come up to me in the last couple of weeks and say: 'Is that Robbo? It's usually Victorians on holidays'," he joked.

"The city is starting to buzz a little bit about the Lions. 

"It's a good (media) turnout today and the home crowds, we're getting averages of 20,000 or more."

Brisbane is currently third on the ladder and about to embark on a three-match homestand that includes visits from the Western Bulldogs, Gold Coast and Geelong.

Robinson said despite locking up their top-eight spot, the Lions were still not in a position to look too far ahead.

"I'm playing a straight bat," he said. 

"The cliché for us is (playing) week by week.

"It'd be stupid for us to get ahead of ourselves and focus on the games other than this week against the Bulldogs.

"I've been here five years and we've been on the bottom of the ladder.

"Winning games has been a good sight to see and gets the confidence going for the young kids that have been through some tough times.

"It means nothing if we don't go into the pointy end of the season in good form and play the way that works for us."
