The Brisbane Lions have announced 19-year-old English-born Sabrina Frederick-Traub as their second and final marquee player for the 2017 AFL National Women's League Season.
Based in Perth, Frederick-Traub spent her first seven years in Brighton, England.
At 182cm, she is currently listed with South Fremantle in the West Australian Women’s Football League and has represented WA at state level in both the Senior and Under 18 programs.
A full-forward who can also pinch-hit in the ruck, Frederick-Traub developed a love of the game at the age of 12 after she trialled for the school football team.
Frederick-Traub is also an Australia Post AFL Multicultural Ambassador, working with West Coast’s Nic Naitanui, Fremantle’s Tendai Mzungu and Brisbane’s own Dayne Zorko to introduce football to multicultural communities.
Sabrina will be taking a fulltime role with the club in the Community engagement dept where she will continue to work in multicultural communities and help drive participation in this space.
Brisbane Lions Women’s CEO Breeanna Brock said the Club was delighted to secure a player of Sabrina’s talent.
“Sabs is one of the brightest stars of our women’s game, so to secure her is fantastic.
“It will be a big move for her coming over from Perth but we’re really excited to welcome her she will be a huge asset to our group.”
