The Brisbane Lions today announced a new Club membership record with 52,373 fans signing on as members in season 2023.
Brisbane Lions CEO, Greg Swann, thanked members for supporting the Lions and backing the Club rain, hail or shine.
“Membership is the financial backbone of all football clubs and I want to thank every one of those 52,373 members for their ongoing support,” he said.
“We have a terrific support base, the Gabba is once again sold out this Saturday, and it’s pleasing to see our membership get bigger and bigger each year.
“To celebrate our members, we’re giving away $50,000 worth of prizes to members attending the Gabba tomorrow.
“As a code, there are more boys and girls playing AFL in Queensland than ever before and we want to see these fans become rusted on Lions members for years to come.
“To achieve a result 20 per cent higher than in 2022 is a credit to our men’s and women’s teams who both play an attacking and entertaining brand of football and our administrative staff who work hard behind the scenes to deliver these results.”
Swann said the Club continues to see membership growth in Queensland especially in the suburbs surrounding the Gabba and pleasingly in the Greater Springfield area around our new training and administration base at Brighton Homes Arena.
“As a Club we’re ALL IN more so than ever before. For the first time, all football and administrative operations are under the one roof at Brighton Homes Arena and this has been transformational in terms of how we interact as a club.
“Our men’s team is tracking well with September just around the corner, the AFLW team have been training the house down ahead of their first fixture on 3 September and our staff love the new environment at Brighton Homes Arena.”
Head of Women’s Football, Breeanna Brock, said memberships and tickets for the AFLW season are on sale now with the team wanting to make the Lions new home a fortress.

“To finally have a place to call home is pretty special and we are really looking forward to filling it with members and really making Springfield our home,” Brock said.”
“We’ve been a nomadic team for a while so to showcase our new facility to our members, especially those that live in the western corridor, is such a milestone for us.
“The team has had a great pre-season and they’re ready for their practice match, also against Adelaide tomorrow.
The Lions AFLW season starts on Sunday 3 September with the Lions hosting Richmond at Brighton Homes Arena.
