Chris Fagan has praised the performance of livewire forward Charlie Cameron, who inspired the Lions with five goals in a dominant display against St Kilda.
Cameron was at his electrifying best during Brisbane's 56-point victory on Saturday, kicking an equal career-high five goals including two early in the third term that sparked a nine goal to one quarter.
Fagan said Cameron proved himself to be among the top handful of small forwards in the competition.
"He was electrifying, wasn't he?" Fagan said.
"When you can get the ball inside 50 at speed and he's in there (against) his opponent I'd hate to be his opponent because he's so agile and quick.
"It was great he was able to finish his work today. He's had a really good year and perhaps if he'd kicked a bit straighter we'd be talking him up a bit more than we are.
"But he rose to the occasion today."
The win was in sharp contrast to the Lions' disappointing loss to Carlton two weeks ago, and Fagan said he was pleased by his side's strong response following the bye.
"I was proud of the boys today simply because we talked about the idea that if you're really disappointed about the way we played against Carlton a couple of weeks ago, it would show in our performance today and I thought it did," Fagan said.
"They stuck to the process that we'd identified would help us win the game and it all paid dividends in that third quarter … it was pretty exciting to watch."
The win leaves Brisbane sitting comfortably inside the top eight with an 8-5 record and facing the realistic prospect of its first finals campaign in 10 years.
But Fagan is still refusing to use to the 'F' word with his players, although he admits it is probably weighing on the players' minds.
"Our players are obviously aware of the fact that they're going OK and they're a chance to make finals, they're not stupid," he said.
"But we try and stick to our processes. We've always just tried to improve and it's got us this far, so we'll just stick with that and not get too caught up in worrying about results."
