The Brisbane Lions have welcomed Brent Moloney, Stefan Martin, and Ryan Lester back into the senior side ahead of this Saturday afternoon’s match against Richmond at the MCG.

Martin is set to play his first senior AFL match in 16 weeks, after kicking four goals in his return match from injury in the NEAFL last Saturday.

The 26-year-old proved a valuable addition to the Lions’ side throughout the NAB Cup and in the early stages of the 2013 season, before undergoing ankle surgery following the team’s Round 4 match against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

Martin will be reunited with former Melbourne teammate Brent Moloney, who returns after missing last Saturday night’s win over St Kilda with hamstring soreness, while Lester has also been recalled.

The returning trio replace injured Co-Captain Jonathan Brown (foot), Mitch Golby (suspended) and Rohan Bewick (omitted).

This Saturday’s match will be the Lions’ first, and only, visit to the MCG for Season 2013, with four members of the selected side – Sam Docherty, Elliot Yeo, Sam Mayes and Justin Clarke – having never played a senior AFL match at the ‘home of football’.

Defender-cum-forward Daniel Merrett is also set to line-up for his 150th AFL game this Saturday, which makes him eligible for Lions Life Membership.

Merrett was born and bred on the Gold Coast, before being recruited to the Lions with Pick No. 30 at the 2002 AFL National Draft.
