A resounding vote from the Brisbane Lions playing group has seen Harris Andrews and Lachie Neale re-elected as the Club’s Co-Captains for 2024.
The strong backing comes after the duo guided the Lions to the Grand Final last season in their first year after taking the reins.
Hugh McCluggage, who was sole Vice-Captain last season, will continue to support the pair with the aid of Co-Vice Captain Josh Dunkley.
Dunkley moves into the dual role in just his second season with the Club, after the midfielder displayed his strong leadership qualities.
General Manager Football Danny Daly said the Club was in great hands with the quartet leading the way in 2024.
“We are extremely happy for Harris, Lachie, Hugh and Josh to be our leaders for the season ahead and they all thoroughly deserve the privilege,” Daly said.
“To be the leaders of the Brisbane Lions is a huge honour and to be voted by your peers makes it even more special for these four guys.
“We went through the voting process again to guarantee our leaders were living up to the standards and values we expect as a Club, and the result of the vote confirmed that, which is no surprise to us but is a real testament to them.”
The Brisbane Lions have also selected a nine-person leadership group for the 2024 season.
Rounding out the group is Charlie Cameron, Cam Rayner, Brandon Starcevich, Jarrod Berry and Oscar McInerney.
“What we were reminded of going through this process was how much leadership depth we have at our Club and how many great people we have here,” Daly said.
“While these nine players are in official leadership roles, we have a list full of people who will lead in their own way this year and that’s what you need to be successful.”
The Brisbane Lions announced their 2024 Captains and leadership group at the Club’s season launch on Tuesday night.
