Reserves Coach Shane Woewodin gives lions.com.au his assessment of the weekend’s game against the Northern Territory Thunder.
“We were really impressive last week against Redland and we always hold hope and believe every time we cross the white line.
“On Saturday we didn’t want a turnover game which it was at the end of today. It was more skill execution, hand and foot, ground ball, just the simple basics of the game which cost us.
“At half time it was 31 inside 50s a piece. We just didn’t execute and weren’t smart enough going inside forward 50 and they were able to capitalise on our poor errors in our front half where they just went coast to coast and scored. They scored well over 50 points from back half turnovers.
“It was a skill game and we didn’t want it – we wanted a stoppage game – it was a learning curve for our boys.
“Even though the results haven’t been going our way, the morale has been pretty good around the place.
“The bye and the break has come at a good time for our group; just to refresh, regroup and get away, think about it and hopefully attack the back half of the year.”
