Lions set for Brisbane return
The Brisbane Lions will return to Brisbane from Melbourne this afternoon.
Lions players, coaches and staff were among thousands whose travel plans were halted due to the danger posed by an ash cloud from a volcano in Chile, grounding planes in and out of Melbourne, Tasmania and New Zealand.
Virgin Blue this morning announced that they would be flying out of Tullamarine Airport and the Lions were booked onto a 4.00pm flight, to arrive in Brisbane at 6.10pm this evening.
General Manager of Football Operations, Dean Warren, said that the disruption had not overly affected the team's training schedule.
"We had the staff, resources and facilities here in Melbourne to be able to complete our post-match recovery session and assessments," Warren said.
"Fortunately, there was no significant disruption to the team's post-match process."
