The Brisbane Lions VFL side travel to Melbourne this weekend to take on North Melbourne in Round 3 Smithy’s VFL action.

Following a thrilling two-point victory over Collingwood in Round 2, the Lions turn their attention to fellow unbeaten side North Melbourne.

Lions VFL coach, Ben Hudson, understands the challenge ahead of his side but feels they are well equipped to put in another good performance.

“We’ve had two really solid wins so far this year, Collingwood in particular I thought we were able to arrest momentum really well late in that game,” Hudson examined.

“Our young guys have been impressive so far this season but North have played some really good footy early this season, so it’s an exciting match up for us.

“Travelling down to Melbourne gives our group the opportunity to spend more time together and get closer which we like to use to our advantage.”

A 37-point win over Essendon and a two-point victory over Collingwood have the Lions sitting 5th on the ladder with the Kangaroos sitting 3rd on percentage.

Two wins for the Roos over the Northern Bullants and Carlton has this game shaping as one of big matchups in Round 3.

Last time we met

This will be the first meeting between these two sides since Round 2, 2022 where the Kangaroos travelled to Burpengary to play the Lions.

A solid day out for Brisbane resulted in a 104-point win finishing with a season high 156 points and 25 goals.

Jaxon Prior had a field day, collecting 28 touches, booting two goals and taking 10 marks in an all-around performance.

Kai Lohmann was deadly in front of the big sticks kicking five majors from 20 disposals.

Deven Robertson, who will play a key role on Sunday, was immense in defence laying a game high 11 tackles.

With the first bounce from 1:05pm on Sunday, Lions fans can catch all the action from Arden Street Oval on the AFL app or the live stream on https://www.afl.com.au/vfl.
