The Brisbane Lions annual Giving Day is now open, with your support needed to help support the next generation of Lions Academy participants.

Troydan Ross, is one Academy member benefiting from the support provided by Lions Legacy.

Last year, the Lions organised a football experience for three young men from AFL Cape York House (AFLCYH) in Cairns, bringing them to Brisbane to explore potential opportunities in the sporting industry.

As a result of this program, Troydan made the decision to relocate from Cairns to Brisbane and attend Marist College Ashgrove as a boarder and is now a part of the Lions Academy.

The 17-year-old from Yuendumu Community located northwest of Alice Springs is one of five siblings.

Through the Lions Legacy, Ross is being supported through boarding and schooling, giving him the best opportunity to pursue a career in football or find employment after completing his education.

“The Lions have been amazing in helping me chase my AFL dream,” Ross said.

“To be given this opportunity to come to Brisbane, go to school and play footy here is awesome and I’ve already learnt so much.

“I am beyond grateful to Lions Legacy for what I’ve been able to achieve so far.

“My goal is to keep growing and learning from my elders to become a proud and strong Warlpiri man.”

All donations made will be matched dollar for dollar, and all contributions made with the Australian Sports Foundation are fully tax deductible.
