We regret to advise that Club Life Member Len Cox passed away peacefully today, at the age of 95.

A life-long Fitzroy supporter with a professional background in finance, Len was appointed Assistant Secretary of the Fitzroy Football Club in 1971 before assuming the role of Treasurer in 1974.

He served for a total of 14 years throughout a difficult financial period at the Club and proved a regular sounding board for financial advice among players during this time.

Since his retirement in 1985, Len and his wife Margaret have been coterie members of the Lions – both before and after the merger. Even though his mobility has limited his attendance at Lions matches in recent seasons, Len and Margaret remain part of the Lionhearts group in Victoria this season.

He was also a Life Patron of the Fitzroy-Brisbane Lions Historical Society and contributed towards countless fundraising initiatives at the Club – including the Brighton Homes Arena project.

The Club extends its deepest condolences to his wife Margaret and family at this difficult time.
