We’re charged up and ready for a showdown at Adelaide Oval!

There is plenty to unpack, milestones, match-ups, it has inklings of a final.

So, let’s not wait any longer and get into this week’s electrifying match preview.

Last Time We Met

Last time: Brisbane 19.9 (123) d Port Adelaide 11.9 (75) Qualifying Final, 2023

Last time we met our Lions tamed the Power with an electrifying performance at the Gabba in a classic Qualifying Final.

After a blistering first half, Port Adelaide threatened to upset our night by rallying to take the lead in the second quarter and narrowing the margin to just nine points in the third. However, our boys answered back strongly. Cam Rayner and Hugh McCluggage were pivotal, with Rayner scoring three goals and McCluggage contributing 26 disposals, nine clearances, four scoring assists, and a goal.

Joe Daniher stepped up, scoring three of his five goals in a crucial third-quarter surge. Charlie Cameron marked his 200th game with two quick goals, igniting the 36,020-strong crowd with a rendition of "Country Roads".

Jaspa Fletcher and Callum Ah Chee played solid roles, ensuring Brisbane's steady performance under pressure and securing a memorable victory.

This time we take the fight up to Port Adelaide on their home turf and our boys are prepared to pounce and pull the plug on the Power.

Excited About

Harris's 200th!

Lions’ fans will be buzzing with excitement as their loyal co-captain, Harris Andrews, reaches his 200th AFL game against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Since being picked up with pick #61 in the 2014 AFL National Draft, Andrews has been pure gold for Brisbane. The 27-year-old defender has not only earned the role of co-captain but also achieved dual All-Australian honours and is the reigning Merrett/Murray Medalist. Andrews' leadership and defensive prowess has been instrumental in the Lions' success, including our journey to the 2023 Grand Final.

As he takes the field for this significant match, Lions fans will be wishing him all the best, celebrating his remarkable journey and hoping our boys can bring home the win for him!

Match-ups we're keen for

Harris Andrews vs. Mitch Georgiades

Harris Andrews, our co-captain and defensive linchpin will be a roaring presence against Port Adelaide. Leading the competition for intercept marks, Andrews' knack for cutting off opposition plays will be vital in short-circuiting the Power's offensive surges. On the flip side, Mitch Georgiades is the bright spark in Port Adelaide's forward line, stepping up in the absence of veteran Charlie Dixon. After bouncing back from a torn ACL, the 22-year-old has electrified the field with 19 goals in 10 matches this season. This head-to-head clash between Andrews' defensive might and Georgiades' goal-scoring power promises to be a high-voltage showdown.
