The Brisbane Lions VFL side made it five wins from its last five starts, overcoming Frankston by 50 points on Saturday afternoon. 

Despite giving up the first two goals, the Lions rallied to lead at every change and run out 18.8 (116) to 9.12 (66) winners. 

Jake Lohmann opened proceedings for the home side, who weathered an early storm from Frankston before pouring on five goals of their own. 

Two goals from Brandon Ryan along with majors from Rohan Bailey and Ewan Machperson had the Lions taking a nine-point advantage into the first break. 

Ruck, Henry Smith was enormous for the Lions having 36 hitouts, 23 touches and six clearances to be one of the best afield. 

Smith’s ruck dominance gave the Lions midfield first use with Deven Robertson and Jimmy Tunstill taking full advantage. 

Both finished with 10 clearances as Roberston collected 33 possessions while Tunstill amassed 27 disposals. 

Harry Sharp also had another strong showing kicking three goals, including the first of the second term. 

The Lions booted another three in the second quarter courtesy of Tahj Abberley, Will McLachlan and Bailey while only conceding three majors for the term. 

Holding a 20-point lead at half-time, it was the Lions dominance around clearance which gave them the stranglehold on the contest, winning that stat, 52 to 14 for the match. 

Another strong defensive performance for the Lions allowed their offence to flow in the second half, restricting the Dolphins to 66 points for the game. 

Sharp booted his second the get the Lions underway after half-time as they piled on five goals to two in the third term. 

Majors to Kyle Dunkley and Jack Manly along with Ryan’s third and McLachlan’s second, ensured the Lions maintained a strangle-hold on the contest leading by 36 points at the final change. 

Ryan and Sharp’s third, Abberley’s second and a nice goal from small-forward Darcy Craven put the game to bed in the fourth quarter as the Lions flexed their muscles. 

Craven finished with 15 touches but was one of the Lions best with his pace and smarts in front of goal creating havoc after half-time. 

The Lions now host the Coburg Lions in a battle for jungle supremacy awaits in Round 14 at Brighton Homes Arena.
