The Brisbane Lions regret to advise former Fitzroy player Keith Bromage passed away on Wednesday 26 June at the age of 86.

Bromage, who began his career with Collingwood, joined Fitzroy in 1958 and he made his club debut in our Round 9 win over Geelong at Brunswick Street Oval.

The forward affectionately known as ‘Brom’ went on to play nine more senior games in his debut season, including being part of our semi-final loss to North Melbourne.

Bromage went on to play a further 19 games of a possible 36 from 1959-1960.

During this time he played in multiple finals, most memorably kicking one of four goals in the losing Semi-Final against Melbourne and our losing Preliminary Final against is former side, Collingwood.

In Bromage’s last VFL Season, 1961, he played in 11 of the 18 Home Away games for 18 goals, kicking two successive bags of four goals.

Playing his last VFL game for the Lions in our 103-point thrashing of the South Melbourne at Brunswick Street Oval, booting another four goals.

Bromage, who wore number 37, finished his career having played 41 games for Fitzroy between 1958-1961 for a return 48 goals.

“Brom” later Captain Coached the Manuka FC in the ACT and played for Dimboola in the Wimmera FL.
