Exciting Brisbane Lions forward Charlie Cameron will remain with the Club until the end of the 2028 season after signing a three-year contract extension.

Cameron, who was already contracted for next year, has wasted no time in confirming his loyalty to the Lions and putting pen to paper.

The dual All-Australian has played a total of 144 games in the maroon, blue and gold which has seen him become a fan favourite.

In that time Cameron has made a name for himself as a proven goalkicker, four times crowned the Lions leading goalkicker.

The 29-year-old said he is loving life as a Lion and still has plenty to offer.

“It’s an exciting time to stay on for a couple more years and finish my career off in Brisbane,” Cameron said.

“I didn’t see myself leaving; I am enjoying my time here in Brisbane and I grew up here, went to school here, my partner is from here and I love the footy club and enjoy it here.

“I felt like I’ve built a lot of connections here at the club with staff, players and coaches - so it was an easy decision to stay here in Brisbane.

“It’s always good to hear the fans sing Country Roads and they obviously played a big factor in my decision.

“The fans because are so enjoyable to be around with the care and support they show to me and the other players is awesome and I can’t thank them enough.”

Brisbane Lions General Manager of football, Danny Daly said Cameron was much more than a goalkicker for the Club, praising his leadership qualities also.

Daly highlighted the mentoring Cameron has done with the Lions emerging forwards such as Kai Lohmann and Logan Morris.

“We couldn’t be happier to have a player of Charlie’s calibre extend his career with us,” Daly said.

“It’s always great when players extend their contracts, and we were thrilled to get this done with Charlie and his manager Andrew McDougall at Corporate Sports Australia.

Charlie is an important player for us and will play a key role for the Brisbane Lions as we look for further success.

“Few players get the Gabba crowd as vocal as Charlie when Country Roads is blasting after he goals, a sound us and our fans will continue to enjoy hearing.”

Cameron’s contract extension comes the same day as midfielder Jarrod Berry signed a new deal and only weeks after Co-Vice Captain Hugh McCluggage.
