Brisbane Lions midfielder Jarrod Berry is a confirmed starter for Saturday night’s clash with Essendon in the final home and away match of 2024.

Defensive duo Conor McKenna and Noah Answerth have also been named as the Lions look to secure their place in the finals.

Berry, despite being subbed at quarter-time last week with hamstring tightness, has proven his fitness to face the Bombers.

McKenna returns to face his old team in his first AFL game since Round 20 after several solid performances in the VFL.

While senior coach Chris Fagan has rewarded Answerth with another opportunity, which has him set to notch up his 12th appearance at AFL level for 2024.

McKenna slots straight back into the backline, while Answerth is named on the interchange alongside Kai Lohmann, Logan Morris, Harry Sharp and Zac Bailey.

The Lions have made the call to leave Brandon Starcevich out of the team due to hamstring awareness, while Shadeau Brain was omitted.

Deven Robertson, Jaxon Prior and Henry Smith are the three emergencies.

The Lions return to primetime with the Saturday night match scheduled for 7:30pm will be broadcast live on Seven, Fox Footy and Kayo.
