BRISBANE ruckman Jamie Charman hopes his new three-year contract with the club will ensure he finishes his career as a Lion.
Charman, 25, agreed to a remain at the club earlier this week after weeks of speculation regarding where he would play next year as several Melbourne-based clubs were reported to be courting the out-of-contract ruckman.
"I wanted to leave the contract stuff to the end of the season so I'd finished playing," Charman said, on SEN.
"It's all done and dusted, Paul Connors did the contract, and it's all done. It's a bit of a relief.
"I'm glad I'm staying in Brisbane for hopefully the rest of my career."
The talented big man has overcome a handful of injuries, including a fractured leg and dislocated shoulder, in the past two seasons to become a valuable asset this year.
He has averaged over 18 hit-outs a game in 17 matches this season, as well as nearly 13 disposals and a total of 10 goals.
While relieved to finally have negotiations out of the way, Charman said he was pleased to be able to leave the discussions until the end of the season.
