The Brisbane Lions have this morning submitted paperwork to the AFL to upgrade rookie Billy Evans to its senior list ahead of Sunday's clash against Geelong at Simonds Stadium.
Evans has been elevated as a replacement for injured first-year player Sam Skinner and is now in contention to face the Cats.
Evans was recruited to the Lions from Bendigo with the Club's first selection in the 2014 AFL Rookie Draft, pick 4 overall.
The midfielder was the fifth and final debutant for the Lions in 2015 as the Club’s ‘mid-season nominated rookie’, earning his spot in Round 19 against the Gold Coast Suns.
Evans played five games to finish out the season – including each of the Lions’ last two wins.
“Billy has made excellent progress so far in his time at the Lions, and thoroughly deserves his elevation to the senior list,” said Lions Football Manager Matt Francis.
“He’ll be in the mix to take on the Cats on Sunday.”
Skinner has been placed on the Lions' long-term injury list and is on track to return in Round 12.
An application has also been submitted to the AFL to place Justin Clarke (retired) on the Club’s long term injury list.
No player has been nominated to transfer from the Rookie List to the Primary List as a replacement for Clarke to this point in time.
