The Brisbane Lions premiership defence has been set with the release of the full 2025 AFL fixture.

In a treat for fans, the Lions will unfurl the 2024 Premiership flag ahead of their Opening Round clash against Geelong on Thursday 6 March before heading to the SCG for a Grand Final rematch in Round 1 against the Swans.

On top of that, the Lions will host Thursday night blockbusters against some of the league’s biggest Victorian clubs including the Easter Thursday Round 6 clash against Collingwood and Essendon in Round 12.

Five other top eight teams from 2024, the GWS Giants, Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Sydney Swans and Hawthorn will all make the trip to The Gabba.

The QClash against the SUNS will once again be played on the Labour Day long weekend (Round 8, 4 May) setting the scene for a Sunday showdown.

For the Fitzroy faithful, the club will play six matches in Victoria this season, with three matches at the MCG (Round 4 v Richmond, Round 11 v Hawthorn and Round 21 v Collingwood), two at Marvel Stadium (Round 7 v St Kilda and Round 18 v Carlton) and one at GMHBA v Geelong (Round 15).

Brisbane Lions CEO, Greg Swann said the team showed tremendous belief in to defy the odds and win the Premiership this season.

“To see what the Premiership means to all our fans has been nothing short of amazing and we’re looking forward to building off this again in season 2025,” he said.

“Thanks to our record number of members (63,268) and growing fan base we sold out the Gabba nine times, and while the boys dropped a couple of home matches early, I know they’ll be ready to reestablish the Gabba fortress next season.

“We’re also going to see some topline players return from long term injuries which will make the competition for spots hotter than ever before.

“With our growing Membership base and the Premiership success, I wouldn’t be surprised if we break 70,000 next year, double the Gabba’s capacity, so the best way to guarantee a seat at every Gabba home game is through a Lions membership.”

In addition to the six matches in Victoria, the Lions will hit the road with two visits to South Australia (Rd 5 v Western Bulldogs and Rd 13 v Adelaide), one match in Hobart (Rd 9 v North Melbourne) and one match in Perth (Rd 23 v Fremantle).
