2013 NEAFL fixture released
The Lions Reserves will have a bigger target on their back in 2013
As reigning champions, the Lions Reserves will no doubt have a much larger target on their back in their attempt to go back-to-back.
The Lions’ 22-Round schedule includes four Bye Rounds (one of which is for the annual State game) and 10 matches against fellow AFL Reserves sides Gold Coast, Sydney Swans, and UWS Giants.
The Lions will also face each of the other eight Northern Conference sides just once throughout the season.
After hosting matches at Sherwood and Yeronga at times last year, Coorparoo will return as the Lions’ regular home base.
“We couldn’t use Coorparoo last year because of the redevelopment, but now that’s completed, we look forward to getting back there as our home,” GM - Football Operations Dean Warren said.
The majority of the Coorparoo home matches have been scheduled to take place on the same day as senior Lions matches (albeit earlier) to allow Lions fans the chance to see both teams play live.
The Lions will also play curtain-raisers immediately before senior matches against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium (Round 3), Sydney at the SCG (Round 6), and the NT Thunder at TIO Stadium (Round 17)
Another highlight of the Lions’ fixture is an Anzac Day match against Gold Coast at Harrop Park in McKay.
