Brisbane Lions AFLW duo Ellie Hampson and Dee Heslop have re-signed until the end of the 2025 season.

The paired signed one-year deals as the Lions finalised their list following the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft on Monday night.

Hampson, who kicked a goal in the 2024 NAB AFLW Grand Final, played 10 games this season including three finals, providing another option forward of the ball with the ability roll into the midfield.

One of her best outings in 2024 came against Carlton at IKON Park in Week 6, booting two goals to go along with her 10 touches.

“I feel like we are have only scratched the surface with how much this group can achieve and it excites me to continue to be a part of that journey.” Hampson said.

“I can’t wait to continue building with the Lions, my time here has been amazing.

“The amount of drive and passion the club holds is something special to be a part of and it makes me a better athlete every day.

“To play in two grand finals in two seasons has been extremely special and I think it’s just the start to what we can bring.”

After an interrupted pre-season, Heslop will be looking to hit the ground running next season.

A clever ball-user off half-back, the 45-gamer joined the Lions from the Gold Coast SUNS in 2022 Season 7 playing in the 2022 NAB AFLW Grand Final.

“I’m so happy to be signing on for another year with this club,” Heslop said.

“We have had great success as a team but our best footy is still to come which is so exciting.

“The bond that all us girls have together is something so special, so to be able to continue this journey is amazing and I already can’t wait to get stuck into next year.”

As two players with 40 plus games of AFLW experience, Lions AFLW senior coach, Craig Starcevich is looking forward to seeing their best in 2025.

“It is exciting to have both girls on board next season with both potentially playing important roles for us,” Starcevich said.

“Both Ellie and Dee are experienced AFLW players and have played in some big games across their careers, with three Grand Finals between them and Ellie being a premiership in 2023.

“Ellie and Dee are important players with unique talents and we look forward to seeing them as part of our group in season 2025.”
