Brisbane Lions defender Brandon Starcevich has taken a positive step forward in his recovery from concussion after running at training on Tuesday.

Starcevich entered concussion protocols for the second time this year following the Lions’ Round 1 win over Sydney.

The club has prioritised the 25-year-old’s wellbeing by not putting a set time frame on his return to play, which it will continue to do so despite continued improvement.

Ruck-forward Henry Smith has also entered concussion protocols following Saturday’s VFL match with Richmond.

Smith played out the match though reported concussion symptoms on Sunday.

The Lions will give livewire forward Kai Lohmann another week on the sidelines as he overcomes soreness from an ankle sprain which occurred in Round 1.

Lohmann returned to face Geelong in Round 3 before being subbed out due to the ankle complaint.

The 21-year-old ran at training on Tuesday and will continue to increase his training over the next week.
