The Brisbane Lions hosted the third iteration of the Careers Pathway Breakfast powered by Lions Legacy, bringing together key donors and players across the AFL, AFLW and Academy programs.

Lions AFL & AFLW players came together with a network of diverse business professionals to discuss their career aspirations and learn about the importance of building their networks while playing football.

Head of Lions Legacy, Ashley Drake spoke about how important event such as the Careers Pathways Breakfast are not only for the players but for the Club Partners and Donors.

“Lions Legacy do a large amount of work with our Donors in helping the not only next generation but present players at the Club with opportunities to further themselves off-field,” Drake said.

“Claudia Wright, a 2024 AFLW draftee, was able to network with Steve Lacey from Rebel Sport and has now been presented with an opportunity to do some work with that organisation.

“It is these interactions which are a valuable part of what we are doing at Lions Legacy, we can’t thank our Partners and Donors enough for their generosity at these events imparting their knowledge onto our players.”

A panel consisting of Ashley Drake (Brisbane Lions Head of Lions Legacy), Brad Moran (Former Adelaide Crows & North Melbourne Player, Entrepreneur), Sophie Conway (Brisbane Lions AFLW Player & Lions Legacy Administration Coordinator) and Jess Richardson (Chief People Officer - YOUI) spoke across a number of topics as part of the formalities giving an insight into their specific roles, providing advice for the players and touching on experiences across their respective careers.
