Matt Maguire and Rohan Bewick have signed extended deals with the Brisbane Lions - the latest in a line of re-signings at the Club.

Maguire, 28, has signed a one-year extension, while Bewick, 22, has agreed to a two year deal.

Maguire came to the Lions at the end of 2009 and has since cemented himself as a key part of the Lions’ defence.

Bewick, traded to the Lions in 2010 from West Perth, found a regular place in the senior side in his second AFL season this year, and has impressed both the coaching staff and fans with his hard running and goal sense.

Maguire and Bewick join a list of Lions to recently re-sign, including Vice Captain Jed Adcock, young guns Ryan Lester, Claye Beams and Josh Green, and Club stalwart Simon Black.

Lions General Manager, Football Operations, Dean Warren, said that Maguire and Bewick were important signings for the Club.

“Both Matt and Rohan have become an integral part of our team and we’ve been really impressed with their efforts this season,” he said.

“It’s a great show of faith that these players are committed to the direction that we’re going as a footy Club, and I have no doubt that Matt and Rohan will be playing their part in our future success.”
