Two of the Lions brightest prospects will return to the Sunshine Coast this weekend when the Lions NEAFL side take on the GWS GIANTS at Maroochydore Multisports Complex on Saturday morning.
Jack Payne and Tom Fullarton started their footy careers on the Coast and this weekend’s game will be their first time playing there in Lions colours.
Payne, originally from Peregian, said he couldn’t wait to play in front of family and friends.
“I love going up to the Coast as much as I can and it will be special playing in front of my family and friends,” Payne said.
“Hopefully we can get the win.”
Fullarton, who arrived at the Lions midway through last year after deferring from basketball, said he was excited to return where it all started.
“I’ve played so much sport up at the Coast, so I’m looking forward to having the chance to pull on a Lions guernsey in front of family and friends,” he said.
“Hopefully the community will want to come along to watch what will be a great game.”
The match will be highly anticipated, with the Lions aiming for their seventh straight win. They are the only side in the NEAFL competition to remain undefeated and sit top of the ladder.
Their opponent, GWS, sit fifth with three wins and will be strengthened by the return of players back from injury.
